Labor story:
Christy went into labor at about 5am Wednesday morning. After
prevailing over Greg, who wanted to go back to bed and see how
things went for a couple of hours, they left in a big hurry and
went to pick up Lissie. By then contractions were four minutes
apart and strong. Christy was chatty in the car, but by Fontana,
contractions were 2 and 3 minutes apart and Lissie was making
panicked 'drive faster' signs from the back seat!
They got to the hospital at right around 7am, at which point
contractions were 2 minutes apart and Christy was very serious
and maintaining excellent control over the process. Her mom
arrived a little later, and about 8am Christy moved to a
delivery room. She was waiting for an epidural for a couple
of hours, during which time she stayed relaxed and managed
the labor extremely well. Her coaches encouraged her and squeezed
her ankles and hands during the contractions, which were by
then very strong and coming almost one on top of another.
Christy was very relieved to get the epidural (she was about
5cm dilated by then) and felt like she could really become
much more relaxed and present. She plateaued for a while, and
then very rapidly progressed to pushing by around 11:30am.
Several big pushes later, Hudson Jade was born, at which point
he was promptly forgiven and welcomed. :-)
Freshly born.
Getting a hearing test.
